Pesky monkey
I've found two different studies that show significant heart health benefits for people who meditate daily.
Here's what's amazing: Both studies are mainstream. One was recently presented at the annual meeting of the American Heart Association and one was published in the Archives of Internal Medicine.
But what's truly amazing – and most important – is that in both studies all the subjects had coronary heart disease.

----------------------------------------------------------
"Forget what you've heard about meditation."
That advice, from my friend Ed, is for anyone who's interested in getting started with meditation. His point: If the word "meditation" conjures images of incense, finger cymbals and crystals – and if those things aren't exactly your style – don't be put off. Some people enjoy those trappings, but none of them are necessary.
About 20 years ago, while trying to come to terms with the death of his mother, Ed learned how to meditate. He describes meditation simply as a way to relax and focus by training what he calls the "monkey mind" to take a break and calm down for a few minutes.
What's to be gained by calming the monkey mind?
Previous studies have shown that a popular form of meditation known as transcendental meditation (TM) may actually help patients control blood pressure.
Researchers at the University of Southern California divided 103 coronary heart disease (CHD) patients into two groups. Subjects in one group received 16 weeks of TM instruction. Compared to the placebo group, TM subjects experienced significantly better blood pressure control, reduction of insulin resistance and improved heart rate variability. In addition, TM helped subjects control their response to stress.
In the more recent study, researchers from The Medical College of Wisconsin collaborated with a natural medicine school in Iowa. Similar to the California study, about 200 CHD patients were divided into two groups. Half received TM instruction and half did not.
Results: Over nine years, rates of heart attack, stroke, and death were all significantly lower in the TM group.
At the AHA meeting, lead researcher Robert Schneider, M.D., suggested TM should be thought of as a new class of heart disease medications. "In this case, the new medications are derived from the body's own internal pharmacy stimulated by the Transcendental Meditation practice."
You can find information about the TM technique used in the CHD study on the Transcendental Meditation Program website at tm.org.

This Is My Theory
I make war with what comes in contact
with health and happiness,
Believing that God made everything good.
And if there is anything wrong
it is the effect of ourselves.Man is responsible for his acts
and even his thoughts,
Therefore it is necessary
that man should know himself
so that he shall not communicate sin or error. This is my theory:
to put man in possession of a Science
That will destroy the ideas of the sick
and teach man one living progression
of his own identity,
With life free from error and disease.Dr. Phineas Parkhurst Quimby

Reaching for Forgiveness
When confronted by the resentments of the past, it seems a startling idea, but we can decide how we think and feel about our experiences. We can control our feelings and can change how we feel about the painful situations of the past. Mind is cause, never effect—never a victim. Circumstances, situations and actions of others never control our thinking—we do. As Paul says, “be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind…” (Romans 12:2) We don’t have to conform our thoughts or feelings to what we see, hear or experience, but instead can renew our thinking—finding new ways to think about the past, and through this process, find transformation.
When we allow our thoughts and feelings to conform to our experiences, we allow those experiences to act as a mold for our thought patterns and thought-feelings, and allow them to perpetuate our suffering needlessly.
We can begin this process by being willing to think a new thought.
I am ready to move on—to see this experience of the past from a spiritual perspective—through the eyes of Mind—not the eyes of the flesh. I am willing for my thoughts surrounding these events to be new ones. I now decide to dissolve these old patterns of thinking with their accompanying thought-feelings. Divine Mind holds no grudges or resentments. Divine Mind knows the right way to think about these events of my past, and that Mind is my mind now. I am listening to God’s divine ideas. As God’s expression, I can never be a victim.

Reasoning Through Evil Has No Power
There is only one Mind—the divine Mind. The word God comes from the Anglo-Saxon word for good; so, good is Mind and good is the only Mind. God is right consciousness and God holds the right idea of everything s/he creates and sustains—i.e. of everything that is real. If God is all then any other power must be a supposition, an assumption, a false belief, a misapprehension or a misunderstanding.
Since God is infinite Mind, an evil consciousness, called a devil, cannot be Mind, and cannot have intelligence or reality.
If God is infinite power, there can be no evil power. If God is infinite Mind, there can be no evil consciousness or devil. If God is infinite presence, there can be no lurking presence of evil. 2+2=5 cannot be real and cannot be a part of the principle of mathematics and cannot exist. So it is with evil. Evil can have no place in the divine Mind and cannot exist as a part of the divine Principle.
Saying there is a devil is like saying there is a principle of anti-mathematics which is trying to get us to make mistakes in arithmetic.
If you believe evil is real and is a power, what does that do to the Unity statement, "There is only one presence and one power in the universe and in my life, God the good, omnipotent?" It makes it meaningless.
God says
nothing needs fixing;
everything desires

The True Bread
The real bread or food of life is thoughts of health, of happiness, and success or progress. It requires a lot of work and effort to obtain and maintain these true and life-giving thoughts. But there is no way out of this erring condition but the one—discarding all thoughts that evil and any life separate from God (i.e. material life) are real.

Questions Demanding an Answer

Self-motivation without gratitude is impossible.
Reflect for a moment on this beautiful quote from Melody Beattie:
"Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow."
"The hardest arithmetic to master is that which enables us to count our blessings." -Eric Hoffer

Get out of God's way so blessings can flow
All the power necessary to maintain my life is already at work and all I have to do is to acknowledge it. Acknowledge that God is fulfilling Itself. God’s nature is to fulfill Itself as peace on earth and the divine grace in my life. I do not pray or ask for grace; I acknowledge grace as God’s means of fulfilling Itself on Earth. When I acknowledge that and let myself be receptive, I will find It functioning in my life.
You benefit by this grace of God, not because God is picking you out or seeking you out to do good for, but because you are opening your consciousness to receive the grace of God which is forever flowing and which is forever on earth as it is in heaven. God is really fulfilling His own nature; God is the protective, maintaining, and sustaining influence, but God is also the loving and gentle influence; therefore, God is always being expressed.
When you and I accept that truth and stop thinking in terms of "God, do this for me or for mine," in other words, release God, loose Him, let Him go, and realize that the grace of God is as much yours as mine, then you will have entered into a whole new consciousness of life. Thank you, God! And So It Is

THE LAW OF THINKING
"As a man thinketh in his heart so is he." (Prov. 23:7)
To the average person, Life is an enigma, a deep mystery, a complex, an incomprehensible problem, or appears so, but it is very simple if one holds the key. Mystery is only another name for ignorance; all things are mysteries when they are not understood, but when we understand life, it no longer appears mysterious.
Man is a progressive being, a creature of constant growth, before whom lies an illimitable ocean of progress to be navigated and conquered only by development and culture of his inherent powers. The progress of the individual is largely determined by his ruling mental state, because the mind is the basic factor and governing power in the entire life of man. Attention should be given to the pre-dominant mental state, for it will regulate the action and direction of all one's forces, faculties and powers, the sum total of which will inevitably determine many particular experiences and the personal fate.
The ruling state of mind is made up of various mental attitudes which the individual adopts towards things, events, and life in general. If his attitudes are broad in mind, optimistic in tone, and true to life, his predominant mental state will correspond and exhibit a highly constructive and progressive tendency. As almost all the forces of the personality function through the conscious mind in one way or another, and as the daily mental and physical acts are largely controlled by the conscious mind, it is obvious that the leading mental state will determine the direction in which the powers of the individual are to proceed.
If his ruling mental state is upward bound, that is, aspiring, harmonious, and positive, all his forces will be directed into constructive channels; but if his state of mind is downward in tendency, that is, discordant and negative, then almost all his forces will be misdirected.
It is evident, therefore, that of all the factors which regulate the life and experience of man, none perhaps exercise a greater influence than the ruling state of mind. Mental attitudes are the result of ideas, and these have their origin in points of view therefore, by seeking true and natural points of view, one may secure the best and most superior ideas, and these in turn will determine the predominating state of mind.
We are prone to believe more than what we see. The evidences of the senses are the only facts that some accept, but now we shall realize more and more that it is what we believe that determines what we shall see. In other words, believing is seeing. More defeats and failures are due to mental blindness than to moral deviations. If one lived only by physical sight, his world would be very small. It is said of a bug that its world is only as large as the size of the leaf on which it lives, and many times it does not live long enough to consume the whole leaf. With man, if he lived according to the senses, the largest sense he possessed would be that of sight. Thus our whole world would extend only as far as we could see.
If we believed in the testimony of our eyes, we would accept many conditions that are not true. For example, if you look down a railroad track, you will observe that at a certain distance the two tracks converge at one point. This is not true. Have you ever stood on the boardwalk and watched a ship slowly sink into the sea as it sailed away? That ship wasn't sinking; our eyes tell us falsely. When you are worried over some obstacle or problem, just remind yourself that it may be purely an illusion of the senses, that it may not be true at all, according to the Law.
Did you know that you don't even see with your eyes? Your eyes are like a pair of windows; at the back, of the window there is a reflector and this reflector, in turn, forms an image of what you see and sets up a wave current. This wave current follows along thin wires called nerves. This relays the image back to the brain. Here at the brain it is referred to the memory center. If the picture is a common one our memory accepts it readily, but if we are looking upon some new picture, some new scene, our memory does not recognize it, and then we must repeat the picture over and over many times until it makes a lasting impression. Therefore, we do not see with our eyes; we see with our mind.
Thought is a subtle element; although it is invisible to the physical sight, it is an actual force or substance, as real as electricity, light, heat, water or even stone. We are surrounded by a vast ocean of thought stuff through which our thoughts pass like currents of electricity, or tiny streaks of light or musical waves. You can flash your thoughts from pole to pole, completely around the world many times in less than a single second. Scientists tell us that thought is compared with the speed of light. They tell us our thoughts travel at the rate of 186,000 miles per second. Our thought travels 930,000 times faster than the sound of our voice. No other force or power in the universe yet known is as great or as quick. It is a proven fact, scientifically, that the mind is a battery of force, the greatest of any known element.
It is an unlimited force; your power to think is inexhaustible, yet there is not one in a thousand who may be fully aware of the possibilities of his thought power. We are mere babes in handling it. As we grow in understanding and in the right use of thought, we will learn to banish our ills, to establish good in every form we may desire. It is our power to think that determines our state of living. As one is able to think, he generates a power that travels far and near, and this power sets up a radiation which becomes individual as he determines it. Our thoughts affect our welfare, and often affect others we think of. The kind of thoughts we register on our memories or habitually think attracts the same kind of conditions.
If we take the thought of success and keep it in mind, the thought elements will be attracted, for "like attracts like." We are mentally drawn to the universal thought currents of success, and these thought currents of success are existent all around us. We will psychically contact minds who think along the same lines, and later such minds will be brought into our lives. Therefore, successful minded people help success to come to them. That is how successful living is founded.
The Law of mind is in perpetual operation, and it works both ways. Persons who dwell on thoughts of failure or poverty will gravitate toward like conditions; they, in turn, will draw to them people who accept failure and poverty. On the other hand, we can think on positive conditions, on success and plenty, and in the same manner, enjoy full and plenty. What the mind holds within takes its form in the outer world.
Some think that we must deal with two forces; that is, to attract the good we must do away with the bad, but this is not true. For example; if we are cold, we do not work with cold and heat alike in order to get warm. We build a fire, and as we gather around that fire we enjoy the heat that is extended from it and become warm. As we build up warmth, the cold disappears, for cold is the absence of heat. To be warm, we give our whole thought to those things which tend to create warmth; we ignore the cold in thinking of heat and bring forth heat. Prosperity and poverty are not two things; they are merely two sides of one and the same thing. They are but one power, rightly or wrongly used. We cannot think of plenty and then worry about the unfavorable conditions that may seem apparent. We think about plenty, and as we think of it, lack, its opposite, will become absorbed or disappear. All our thoughts must be directed to that one thing which we desire in order that our desire may be fulfilled. Our method is not manipulating two powers, not dealing with good and evil, right and wrong, prosperity and poverty, but as we follow the Law of Good and dwell upon that which is good we shall bring to pass all good things.
The mind force is creating continually like fertile soil. Nature does not differentiate between the seed of a weed and that of a flower. She produces and causes both seeds to grow. The same energy is used for both, and so it is with the mind. The mind creates either good or bad. Your ideas determine which is to be created.

Inspiration find Bliss and Happiness
“All our dreams come true if we have the courage to pursue them.” —Walt Disney
So, what is inspiration? How does it impact us? And what and who inspires you? Clearly, if nothing else, to be inspired or to focus on something inspirational is all very high vibrational activity, contributing to you feeling like you are living your bliss, finding happiness and a sense of empowerment!.
The word inspire actually has several definitions: 1. To stimulate somebody to do something (encourage somebody to greater effort, enthusiasm or creativity); 2. To provoke particular feeling (arouse a particular feeling in somebody, as inspires optimism); 3. To cause creative activity (to stimulate somebody to do something, especially creative or artistic work); 4 to breathe in (as to inhale air).
For me, personally, that which inspires me (fills me with beautiful spirit) is what touches my heart and my entire being, in a way that motivates or pushes me to want to take some kind of action or to, at least, give thought and consideration to the meaning in my own life of whatever it is that has inspired me. Whatever my inspiration is, it serves my journey in some way, contributing to the forward or upward movement, hopefully, of my soul’s growth – and, most of all, it really feels good!
If you are looking for some bliss and joy, take time to become aware of your sources of inspiration; take time to look for situations, people, experiences and moments which you intuitively know will uplift you and, because they feel so good, you will hold in your heart, where you keep your treasure box of special vibrational memories, as we do with Susan Boyle’s experience, forever treasuring them ….again and again.
Finding inspiration is so often about the internal meaning you give to an external event, making it, then, something precious and uplifting to you. For example, I recently had the honor of participating in a benefit theater production in Bucks County, PA, of Eve Ensler’s The Vagina Monologues.. The goal of the monologues: create awareness of - and an end to - the violence against women. All profits went to charities which support the education of ending the abuse against women and girls.
To my surprise, I found that by choosing to participate in this magnificent production, I was finding daily, if not moment to moment, inspiration that moved me to tears, through the words I was reading and the actors with whom I was performing. Those of you who watch Oprah know that through the gift of television, you are often inspired by her guests and what they have done or by Oprah and all that she is doing to help the world. This is what I felt by choosing to perform in this play.
Consequently, I felt empowered and wonderful – and wanted to be able to do even more to stop the violence against women and to bring peace to the world in which we live. I felt, also, a sense of transformation occurring within me and, most important, I felt I was making a difference!

Into to my new book
Some little babies are born with so much weight that you can’t see their muscle, while others are born so frail and inactive that you can’t see their muscle either. But they both can be developed, and it is the same with our psychic abilities. All abilities can be developed.
Some children are born so muscular that they were obviously born to be athletic, while others have to work very hard to develop any athletic skill at all. It’s the same with being psychic. It’s where and how we apply ourselves.
It is my intention to help you see the simplicity of seeing with spirit the meanings in the things that surround us.
Tuning in to our forgotten sensitivities and trusting what we see and feel, then watching it show itself in picture form with the Tarot, we can learn to look into the potential of our future before we meet it. Simply because we are the ones who have created it. What we do now creates our future.
The Tarot is a book of life, or of changes, not only revealing changes as they relate to our lives but also holding the solutions and ways of walking through these changes.
You can click on My new book site on the right column and see more or buy the book. Thanks

The Lover and the Beloved
Beloved and Lover implies separation, and separation creates longing; and longing causes search. And the wider and the more intense the search the greater the separation and the more terrible the longing.
When the longing is most intense separation is complete, and the purpose of separation, which was that Love might experience itself as Lover and Beloved is fulfilled; and union follows and when union is attained the lover knows that he/she himself/herself was all along the Beloved who he/she loved and desired union with; and that all the impossible situations that he/she overcame were obstacles which he/she himself/herself had placed in the path to himself/herself.
To attain union is so impossibly difficult because it is impossible to become what you already are! Union is nothing other then knowledge of oneself as the Only One.

A Lesson we all must try to remember. Our Truth
A Spiritual Lesson
THIS LESSON is important because it is not just a lesson for one day. If you are faithful in putting this into practice, it will be sufficient for the rest of your life. This lesson is the secret that brings happiness, joy, success, prosperity, and the ability to be of help to our fellow man throughout this world. First of all, whenever you are faced with any problem, whether it is one of health or one concerning your supply, or let us say one that concerns your relationship with other humans, here is your first step: Get comfortable; close your eyes; put your feet on the floor; and now remember that God is closer to you than breathing, nearer than hands and feet. Right here, where you are standing or sitting or playing, God is. You have only to close your eyes, get quiet for a moment, and God will solve your problem.
It may sound strange to you that you don't have to tell God what your problem is or that you don't have to ask God for any favors, and that you don't even have to make any statements or affirmations. That if you have a problem in your household or if there is some subject that you are not properly grasping, stop what you are doing for a moment, close your eyes, and realize God is right here, closer to you than breathing as close to you as inside your own chest. Wait for just a minute or two, and you will find that God, who is the divine Intelligence of your being, knows that you are coming to Him and what you are coming to Him for. It is God's good pleasure to give you the answer. In fact, it is very much like a radio station: God is always talking to you; God is always revealing the answer to every problem, whether it concerns your lessons, your health, or your human relationships; but you cannot receive God's guidance, direction, protection, or support unless you are tuned in to accept it. It is like your sitting here in this room and receiving instruction in spiritual wisdom. But suppose that you had your ears closed and weren't listening, or suppose you were outside playing, or suppose you were downtown at the movies, how then could you receive that which is so willingly offer you? The answer is: You couldn't.
You must give God obedience, attention, lovingness—not by loving a God whom you cannot see, but by loving the people with whom you come in contact. And why? In order that you may receive God's grace because, even though God is present with you, you cannot receive God's grace unless love, joy, and respect fill your mind and your Soul. Each one of us is responsible for himself. There is no God sitting up in a sky, looking down upon you and judging your actions; but there is a God-center within you that knows everything you do and which brings back to you that which you send out. Therefore, the love and the respect that you send out are the love and respect that you get back, and not only that, but they are pressed down and running over.
Have four periods a day where you do this as a daily practice—early in the morning, at noon, about dinner time, and before retiring. Close your eyes; put your feet on the floor; listen way deep down inside of yourself; and then remember that this day which lies ahead of you is now God-governed, God-protected, God-maintained, and God-sustained because you have consciously opened your consciousness to the presence and the government of God. I can promise you that if you do this every day, your life will be a success, and even more than that, you will be laying the foundation for a completely God-governed life. Remember too, if you do not do this every morning, you go out into the world just as a human being, subject to all the trials and tribulations of the human world, and without divine guidance. Thank you, God ~ And So it is!

Spiritual Burn Out ( how to prevent it)
Wednesday, March 18, 2009
Jensen Beach, FL March 18, 2009 - It’s no secret that where two or more are gathered, there are results. That is the premise behind Global Prayer Wake Up Call, a high-tech service created by Reverend Celia Filla and GlobalHeartSpiritualCenter.net . A two-minute daily message of affirmation and prayer, which is distributed via telephone at the same time to literally millions of individuals, the intent is to create an inspired outlook individually and globally. The service is being offered for free and asking only for donations, which are then used to pay for the basic operating expenses and to help run programs assisting communities and individuals in great need. The Global Prayer Wake Up Call is becoming successful beyond the founders’ dreams.
Reverend Celia, who began her ministry on the streets of Fort Pierce, Florida, mentoring, feeding and clothing her neighbors, started the Global Heart Spiritual Center in Jensen Beach, Florida two years ago in an effort to “demonstrate the presence of God with my actions in our community and our world.” With assistance from GlobalCallEnterprises.com, the state-of-the-art technology that handles the monumental task of providing millions of synchronized phone calls each and every day, along with help from members of her congregation that create web sites and handle publicity, Reverend Celia began providing the daily affirmation and prayer service in a ‘test mode’ six months ago. She says she has already seen dramatic positive changes in the lives of participants.
The process is simple and user-friendly. Participants sign up for the service for free, or by donation. Within one week of signing up, they will begin receiving a phone call at the hour of their choice. All they have to do is answer the telephone to receive the daily message delivered by Reverend Celia. The same message will be delivered to others subscribing to the service, helping to create a magnificent positive energy through prayer, creativity and commonality of purpose.
Author of the well known book, Saved by the Light, Dannion Brinkly says, “Prayer, whether used in religious contents or as willful conscious intent used scientifically, steadfastly remains the true model of harnessed spiritual might of directed thought.” The Global Prayer Wake Up Call is a sign of the times and sets a new paradigm of unity and diversity because it brings together a wide variety of faiths, backgrounds, cultures and belief systems in a shared desire for peace, prosperity and the choice of a positive attitude within ourselves and our community.

Planning for Sunday services
Thought I would give this a try with giving you additional information re suggestions for planning the sunday services. We will see if I am doing this right/if this will be received.
#1 Others who indicated that they are interested in helping with speakers for sunday services on the form that Alice created:
#2 YOU will NOT be doing the service on the 15th as they will be at youth rally that weekend. Thus we will need a speaker for that Sunday. They have asked to do the sunday service on the 29th of March. Judy Talley and are your contacts for YOU.
#3 Possible speakers: Micheal Betz(# is above) ;Donn King has spoke in the the past and is well liked, gives excellent lessons; Micheal Buckner, M.Div., Ph.D., local psychologist and hypnotherapist, Knoxville Hypnosis Center
I suggest that you make an annoucement this Sunday that anyone who would like to be a speaker or participate in a "sharing sevice" as what Unity means to them, what Unity has given them, any spiritual sharing etc OR knows of someone who would be willing to be a speaker/is a good speaker and such. That they should give you their information, phone #s etc.
#4 To get things started I suggest that you pick a date and time for all interested to meet with you and brainstorm together.
#5 I have to put 865 and then her phone # for the call to go thru from my home) has agreed to coordinate the format for the sunday service: choose music, arrange for musicians to perform, who to do the meditation, worship assistants etc etc. Yall will need to work together as you will be taking care of different parts of the sunday service. I suggest you ask her to come to your first meeting. Alice will be a good resource person for you as coordinator of speakers for sunday services. Also in the office will be working closely with Alice and with you as she is the one who will type up the bulletin/order of service.
This is all I can think of at this moment. Please call me if I can be of any assistance.
Affirming Love, Peace, Harmony and Divine Order,
Linda Green

I would like to thank Mary for providing this for us and I think that we can use it as a great tool for communication. It was unfortunate that the meeting went as long as it did this morning. I think we were all getting hungry and perhaps a little emotional. We are going to have to allow ourselves a little time to regroup with everything and to allow ourselves time for adjustment. I am looking forward to working with all of you.
Hi Everyone
The meeting to day was long and and a little painful for us all, so this will afford everyone time to think and give suggestions and idea as to what we want the future of our church to look like. So please everyone participate and share. There are no wrong ideas. The Board of course will make any finial decisions concerning budget and church expenses. But this is a place we can all share ideas and direction.
Thank You Mary Whiteflower
